Cloud Cult

Bucking the trend of brand spanking new music, how about I slow down and reabsorb some not so brand new music, like Cloud Cult. I came across them last year. Downloaded one song, really liked it, but just got swept on to other albums, songs, and LP's and just let it slip into the dark recesses of 0's and 1's. That however, has now been corrected. Here is what I am digging from them...

(Would use the Current.com direct link to the video but they seem to have been having troubles when I last checked so youtube it is)

Cloud Cult-Pretty voice mp3

This song has a lot of resonance for me lately...

Cloud Cult-Take Your Medicine mp3

Take a closer look and listen to their latest album here.

In other news, Kid Rock says,(to British magazine Metro) that the election of Barack Obama is a "great thing for Black people." Ah yes, one of our fine ambassadors spreading the benevolent, inspiring image of the U.S.A. overseas. Thanks Kid!

Some Ecletic songs

Morning Becomes Ecletic on KCRW is an excellent show that hooks us listeners up all the time. Here are some treats I came across recently...

Beck stripped down to just he and two others on acoustic guitars...

Iron and Wine on Morning Becomes Ecletic. My favorite is the cover of The Flaming Lips "Waiting for Superman".

Here is a studio version of the song:

Iron & Wine - Waiting for Superman mp3

Broken Social Scene has also done an excellent KCRW performance:

Broken Social Scene- Major Label Debut (live on KCRW) mp3

oh and a while back I posted a Brighton Port Authority video that was really awesome...it had Dizzy Rascal and David Byrne guesting and a cool video on top of that. the full-length album I Think We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat, is due out on February the third. This is the Fatboy Slim guy (Norman Cook)in a new project FYI.

The opening track "He's Frank" will feature Iggy Pop. Pete York, Marta Wainwright, and Emmy the Great are also guests on the album. I Think We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat hits the market on February 3 through Cook's own Southern Fried Records label. Track listing is as follows:

01. He's Frank [ft. Iggy Pop]
02. Dirty Sheets [ft. Pete York]
03. Jumps the Fence [ft. Conan]
04. Should I Stay or Should I Blow [ft. Ashley Beedle]
05. Island [ft. Justin Robertson]

Fleet Foxes

Thanks to Current.com

These guys are great. Too bad they came on during naptime for me at pitchfork festival last summer.

I have only heard this song on a Louis Armstrong record called "Plays W.C. Handy" with a lady singer named Velma Middleton. I absolutely love it and this here is a great take on it....

peace!

Beck - Gamma Ray

And stumbled across this on Pretty Much Amazing and it is bangin'...!!!

Justin Timberlake Magic (?) mp3

(question mark added by me since I don't think this is yet official.)

Beatles Footage discovered

Happy Election Day. Here is my song for the night...

In other news...

Kansas 1964. Some 15 year old (back in 1964) video taped the Fab Four and lost it. Just discovered it and is about to make all kinds of bank by auctioning the full two minute clip. Below is a 16 second excerpt. Cool. Although annoying that there isn't any audio.

I have a good feeling about tonite... This also gives me a good feeling...

Andrew Bird and Yo Yo Ma

Peace!
